1.Q: Why do COAA promote "Eco-farm" certification?
A: Because organic agriculture has been Taiwan's legislative norms, but Taiwan organic agriculture standards and international organic standards have much difference.It is unable to meet the United States, Japan, the European Union , China, and other organic standards for organic agriculture .To upgrade Taiwan organic agriculture and according to Taiwan Government Act Compliance , it adds some important international organic regulation by Taiwan's current organic standards , to provid applicants to merge with the world.Without violating the rules and regulations under the principle, we have proposed "Eco-farm management system certification" programme to replace international organic standards such as; NOP, JAS, EEC2092/91 or GB/T19630,etc.to help Taiwan organic industries enter the international organic world, and even more hope for Taiwan to make some contribution to the environment.
2.Q: Do the International Federation of Organic Agriculture have more requirements than Taiwan?
A: Yes, more requirements, such as the following important criteria, most of them are not required in Taiwan.
1. Prohibiting the use of genetic or chemical materials and pharmacy; organic basic standards)
2. Farm is essential to the construction of the main ecological engineering methods; (part of the new construction)
3. Retention of agricultural land is to more than 5 percent of the ecological habitat; (Including wet area)
4. Farming should have 25 percent for planting green manure;(leguminous crops)
5. Grass crops should interplant above section 3 for 4 years ;(with a legume)
6.The long-term crops is essential for green manure with grass or intercrop;(leguminous crops)
7. Animal feed should be more than 50 per cent of the production sites.(CB recognized)
Of course it is not just these norms, but the above important norms was requested by only a small portion in Taiwan ,and therefore Taiwan organic agriculture is currently unable to and the international’s in comparison. We hope that officials of the domestic production will cooperate active to this direction.
3.Q: What are the requirements to apply "Ecological farms," ?
A: Ecological farms should comply with the basic conditions --- 1 in 5, and we can make an application;
1. Farms should be a basic organic cultivation.
2. Ecological farms should have Quality Management System.
3. farms should have supporting documents from adjacent landowners .
4. Farms production records should be logged on to the AFTSC net.
5. Farms should participate in international Friending Poverty Movement Organization.(IFPMO).
6. Ecological products should support fair Shop (FAIR-CIRCLE).
We believe that this is truly to promote organic agriculture, there must be a correct direction and practice, and welcomed like-minded friends to participate.
4.Q: How to contact with the Association?

5.Q: I have been proven by other certification bodies , and can I apply for COAA certification?
A: At the end of 2008, you can apply for our association.If the early 2009 "organic law" enter into force, we will not accept any farmers proven by other unverified qualified certification , because these certification bodies are too bad to go though TAF in the early 2009, we are unable to accept the certification results certificated by them. We will only accept the farmers before the 2009 "organic law" entry into force , because in the absence of the source of law We treated all the applicants the same.Of course, if these bodies have gone through certification by the TAF we will recognize its certification qualifications.
6.Q: How should Eco-products support fair stores (FAIR-CIRCLE).
A: This is not a mandatory requirement, the business is organized by the International Friending Poverty Movement Organization(IFPMO).We are certification authority,which is not involved in this transaction.Please contact them directly.
7.Q: Can offshore farms in Taiwan apply ?
A: It depends on those who apply for certification, mainly the Taiwan authorities business and within the Association certification ability, we basically are not rejected.
8.Q: Who is responsible for AFTSC site?
A: AFTSC site is set up by Asian food traceability net s service centre for the purpose of public consumption in Asia to build food professional traceability enquiry system, mainly for the third accreditation agencies, producers, distributors, stores and so on to login to the platform.Of course, the most important function is to give consumers a good platform for consumer information. 9.Q: how can the certification body participate in AFTSC network?

10.Q: Can producers directly participate in AFTSC network?
A: The network is the only directly provide certification agencies to use management system AFTSC net .And farmers or industry certification body should apply for certification then the Internet can be registered.
11.Q: Can Asia certification body apply to join the AFTSC network?
A: Yes, but they must have passed ISO GUIDE 65 certification.AFTSC network is a multi-language platform,which has set up a Traditional and Simplified, English and Japanese languages, it can increase other languages.
12.Q: Can various certification involve in AFTSC network?
A: At present, the "Asian food traceability net" only engage in organic agriculture (NOP, OTAP, GB/T19630, EEC2092/91, JAS), the ecological system of farm management, food safety control system (HACCP, ISO 22000), all good agricultural practices (GLOBALGAP, TGAP, CHINAGAP, JGAP), friending poverty fairtrade system and herbs GAP,etc. certification bodies can participate in,but other certification programs temporarily have not yet open. |
